Cybersecurity for Kentucky

Please help us enact this important legislation by signing our petition and contacting your legislators and encouraging them to vote ‘yes’ on House Bill 5.

Kentucky is one of just four states without a cybersecurity/breach notification bill. In the Digital Age, when so much of our sensitive personal information is in the possession of government, this is simply unacceptable. Hackers can wreak havoc on your life by stealing your identity, credit card numbers, tax returns, health records, and more.

Breach notification bills have been proposed three times in the past decade and, stunningly, each time the Kentucky General Assembly has chosen not to enact them!

Again, this is unacceptable. If your personal information is lost or stolen by a government agency in Kentucky, you have a right to know so that you can take measures to protect yourself. This is a fundamental citizen right–as basic a right in the Digital Age as anything in the Bill of Rights.

So please help us enact this important legislation by signing our petition and contacting your legislators and encouraging them to vote ‘yes’ on House Bill 5.

House Bill 5

I believe it is my fundamental right to be notified when my personal information is lost or stolen while in the possession of any government agency in Kentucky. By signing this petition, I am encouraging not only my legislators but all legislators in the Kentucky General Assembly to vote 'yes' on House Bill 5.
